Launching the RESTORE+ Project in Jakarta
Jakarta , 06 June 2017 IIASA together with Indonesia’s Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS), WRI Indonesia and ICRAF hosted the RESTORE+ project launching to stakeholders in Indonesia. The event puts emphasis on the synergy between RESTORE+ project activities with the formulation of Indonesia’s next National Medium‐Term Plan (RPJMN) 2020-2024. The highly attended event was held on 6 June 2017 at the JS Luwansa Hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia. Representatives from national and provincial governments, CSOs, research institutes and international organizations were present to understand planned project activities and discuss concerns as well as potential synergies. Side Event at Bonn Climate Change Conference
Bonn, 17 May 2017 The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and IIASA's Ecosystems Services and Management Program (ESM) co-hosted an event at the Bonn Climate Change Conference - May 2017. The event was aimed to demonstrate the contribution of Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) approaches to the achievement of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). RESTORE+ participates in the 2017 Bonn Challenge Meeting
Palembang, 09-10 May 2017 The Bonn Challenge is a global effort to bring 150 million hectares of degraded and deforested land into restoration by 2020 and 350 million hectares by 2030. This initiative underpins Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) to restore degraded land to its ecological functionality as well as enhancing human well-being. IIASA, ICRAF and WRI represents RESTORE+ consortium to take part in Bonn Challenge Asia Regional High-Level Roundtable. This initiative encourages national commitment and pledge that bring concrete restoration implementation to the ground to national priority. The Bonn Challenge Asia Regional High-Level Roundtable aims to identify ways to collaborate on forest landscape restoration in support of the Bonn Challenge. |
RESTORE+ Kick-Off Workshop
Laxenburg, 18-20 April 2017 IIASA hosts the kickoff workshop of the RESTORE+ project, which aims to explore restoration and utilization options of tropical degraded and/or marginal land in order to ease pressure on deforestation as well as mitigating climate change. The RESTORE+ “Addressing Landscape Restoration on Degraded Land in Indonesia and Brazil” project helps to consider sustainable restoration options on tropical degraded land in Indonesia, Brazil and the Congo Basin in cross-sectoral forestry policies.
